Dolla Raidas at the O.C. Fairgrounds
At the end of May 2009, LeRoy Brown rolled out of bed around 6am to take a trip down to the Orange County Fairgrounds in Orlando, FL for their annual spring record show. There was plenty of wax to go around, so have a look at the photo journal that he put together for Research Deluxe... and he even included the dirty finger prints.

The Reeeeal....Hip-Hop...Hip-Hop

Just heard the newest release from the Legendary Duck Down Recordings Camp!!! Marco Polo & Torae's Double Barrel producer/mc collaboration style album is breaking necks from Dj Premieres intro to the final track. The album also features guests flows from MOP, Rock, Sean P, Masta Ace, and then some. The Boombap is alive and well in the hands of M.Polo's gritty MPC-2000xL.

December at Research Deluxe
December has been off to a good start over at Research Deluxe. Lots of good (and a little not-so good) things have been going on with the crew, and everyone is in a positive mind state, getting prepared to move into the new year.
Crates Anatomy closed out November with a live breaks session at Ceviche (125 W. Church St. Orlando, FL) and found some time to shoot a little video for some of their upcoming projects. The following week (Dec.1)
Crates were also scheduled to play a set on 91.5 WPRK (Winter Park, FL) for Stereo 77's "Filtered Sunshine" program (Mondays from 11pm-1am on 91.5 WPRK or WPRKDJ.org) but due to scheduling conflict, the crew was unable to perform.
On Thursday of that week (Dec. 4) LeRoy Brown and Paul Phonik were Fly by Night over at Tatame (223 W. Fairbanks Ave. Winter Park, FL) and got down with a hip hop, breaks, and electro set from 10pm-1am, with a little help from some of their lab tools and tricks.
PL Phonik of the Research roster will be performing during the 2nd week of December, for the opening of the Breaks Brunch at 310 Lakeside (First Sunday of every monh at 301 E Pine St. Orlando, FL.)

The rest of the crew will be preparing for the final weeks of 2008, with a Crates Anatomy show at the brand new Good Look monthly, as well as a Caltones performance at Blow! sundays, for the Blow! Allstar month.

October at Research Deluxe

October has been a busy month over at Research Deluxe. It started off with the monthly Crates Anatomy appearance on 91.5 WPRK (wprkdj.org), performing their live breaks set every first monday of the month, alongside hosts Stereo 77 and ThinkDifferent.
The following day, Crates headed over to Ceviche (125 W. Church St. Orlando, FL) for their weekly residency fulfillment, rocking anything from afrobeat to breakbeats to hip hop to funk , and then all the way out to some far experimental realms... ending it all at 1am.
Later that week (October 9, 2008) LeRoy Brown had a busy day, engineering throughout the day, then meeting up with The Caltones for an early evening set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Winter Park Terrace Starbucks location, playing a quick 30 minute set, and then packing up and heading over to the Tatame Lounge (223 W. Fairbanks Ave. Orlando, FL) for a monthly set with Doug Therow and The Crates DJ's, playing anything and everything (of the utmost freshness) from 10pm-1am.

The following days were spent gathering the recorded sessions from each night, shipping them to the studio, and sifting through all of the work that had been.

The following week was marked with a bit of a downer, as Crates Anatomy closed down their Tuesday night residency at Ceviche, recording their final set in its entirety, with Brendan Cusker on engineering duties.

Crates Anatomy will begin plans shortly for their live show on November 26, 2008, the night before Thanksgiving. Be sure to stay up-to-date with all the Research Deluxe artist happenings at www.ResearchDeluxe.com
